Foster Care Awareness Month

May is Foster Care Awareness Month.

Are you aware South Carolina has 2,700 to 4,100 children in foster care at any given time?

Are you aware that there is a huge shortage of foster homes?

Are you aware you don’t have to be a perfect parent to foster?

Are you thinking about foster care? You don’t need a pinterest life.  All you need is an interest in a child’s life.  Safety, well being and helping the family achieve permanency are the primary interests of a foster family.

Are you aware of the different ways help?

Feeling Fueled

I knew the SC Foster Parent Conference would be good.  But I didn’t know it would be that good.

2017 was my first year attending.   I laughed.  I cried.   I learned.   Oh, and I left all the kids at home so I could have alone time with my husband.

Making arrangements for five kids for two days was a logistical nightmare.  But I’m glad I made the effort.   It was worth it.  After time alone with my amazing husband and time developing my skills,  I’m feeling fueled.

What makes you feel fueled?
